INTRODUCTION
We’re working with an award-winning independent business based in Swaffham who are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join their team in a fully office-based position. This role would suit someone with at least one years’ Accounts experience, who wants to work in a 360 accounts role. You’ll be working within a small team so will have the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of tasks and have a real impact both in the Accounts team, and the wider company. This position will see you working with international suppliers and various customers for invoices and payments, so clear and personable communication is vital.
THE ROLE OF AN ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT
- Carry out the processes using internal and Microsoft systems
- Reconciling payments and receipts
- Entering payments and receipts
- Checking and paying supplier invoices UK and International
- Communicating with suppliers
- Daily Banking and recording inward payments
- Checking for errors and anomalies in the bank
- Petty Cash, reconciling monthly and entering summaries
- Make payments to HMRC for the PAYE monthly
- Keeping up to date with Costs and Income Sheet
- Processing customer Inward Payments/refunds/raising cheque refunds
- Collating Wages information monthly for to send to the payroll company
- Daily Banking
- Manager expenses and wages payment and control
- Chasing customer balance payments
- Reconciling travel invoices monthly
- Reconcile Credit Card Statements
- Keeping up to date with Expenditure Sheet
- Reconciling month end to the bank statement
- Managing staff holiday and sickness
- Monitoring the accounts email account
- Systems used: XERO and an internal system.
THE REQUIREMENTS OF AN ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT
- At least one year in a similar role
- Basic accounting skills
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Professional, confidential and discreet
- Proficient in excel, word and system savvy
- Great communicator
